Former Carlton cinema, ‘in a better state now than it had been in for decades’
Published: 27 January, 2017
• IT was unkind of you to publish an out-of-date photograph of the Essex Road Carlton cinema above Jonathan Wright’s letter (Concerts and films at old cinema would give street a cultural boost, January 20).
A lot of work has been done since then by the current occupiers, including opening boarded windows, and restoring the ground-floor doors and entrance. It is in a better state now than it had been in for decades.
The question of usage is a quite different one, but as this story continues, please do not make the old Carlton appear borderline derelict. It is clearly usable, and sustainable.
