LETTERS: Don’t panic, Caledonian Park clocktower won’t fall down

Published: 6 January, 2016

• ANNA Carrdus seems to be demonising people who are against the visitors’ centre for not wanting the Caledonian Park clocktower repaired or children to have fun (Landmark go-ahead, December 16).

The tower could have been repaired and services provided for children even without a 250sq metre building that will cost the council money it doesn’t have.

Most of the community are against the sly behaviour of the council (it’s totally undemocratic to carry on with a project the majority of people are against), and the size and location.

Those who had the stomach to read the extensive report the council submitted for the planning application will know that the tower is in no desperate need to be repaired. It is not about to fall down, as Councillor Paul Smith often said to play the panic game.
