THOUSANDS of people are expected to descend on Angel on Sunday for the annual Angel Canal Festival.
The event will take place from 11am to 5pm in the part of the canal adjoining the City Road Lock and streets and parks around Angel.
Attractions include a children’s fun fair with rides and bouncy castles, Punch & Judy, a story-teller, boat trips, a regatta, bell-boat racing, art projects including free pottery sessions, an outdoor art gallery, live music and street theatre.
There will be around 80 stalls selling everything from canalware, crafts, books, clothes, jewellery, bric-a-brac, hot and cold food and non-alcoholic drinks.
Councillor Kat Fletcher, the mayor of Islington, will arrive by boat from the London Canal Museum and open the festival by giving a welcome speech at noon, before starting the bell-boat race in the basin at 1pm.
